What celebration is it?
Congratulations Ellie for correctly identifying the Hamelin Bay stromatolites in the previous photo. Some scientists believe the rock like stromatolites turned carbon dioxide into breathable oxygen millions of years ago paving the way for creatures like us to evolve! Now for your next challenge. Can you identify what celebration this photo was taken at. I’ll give you a clue: it is a celebration that occurs in Italy.

Wow! What a great effort. Well done everyone who entered. Samuel receives $50 worth of Banno bucks for being the first person to answer correctly. Elanah, you can also have $50 for submitting the most detailed answer. I’m very jealous of your parents who got to go there!
The Palio di Siena is a horse race held twice each year on July 2 and August 16 in Siena, Italy. Ten people rides horses bareback. The riders dress in the colours of the district they are representing.
During the race, the riders circle Piazza del Campo which takes a bit under 30 seconds. The Piazzo is covere din dirt for the race. Sometimes a horse finishes th erace without their rider as th erider gets thrown off on the tight corners! A major difference to Australian racing is the Palio is won by the horse who represents his district, and not the rider.
